Sheriff: Woman charged with stealing from GoFundMe account hospitalized in Bemidji

BAUDETTE -- A Baudette woman who was charged with stealing from a GoFundMe account she set up to help the families of three men who went missing on Lake of the Woods is in a Bemidji hospital, according to law enforcement.

Retina Rayellen LaValla, 28, was arrested Tuesday night and was charged with two counts of felony theft, according to a news release from the Lake of the Woods Sheriff's Office. She was being held at the Lake of the Woods County Law Enforcement Center, but on Tuesday she was taken to LakeWood Health Center in Baudette and later flown by helicopter to a Bemidji hospital, according to the release.
