Colville tribes issue citation for killing of Northern Hawk Owl on reservation lands

BRIDGEPORT—The Colville Tribes Natural Resource Enforcement has issued a $5,000 fine and is seeking a mitigation hearing in tribal court concerning the Jan. 2 killing of a Northern Hawk Owl in the Cassimer Bar Area near Bridgeport on the Colville Indian Reservation.

“I am pleased that our office was able to conclude its investigation. It is important that the laws protecting our natural resources be enforced,” said Henry Hix, chief of tribal Natural Resource Enforcement in a press release distributed late Feb. 9.

The press release did not name the cited individual.
