Distracted teen driver pleads guilty in crash that killed two

ELK RIVER, Minn. — A Little Falls girl who was messaging while driving has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide for her involvement in a collision that killed a man and his 10-year-old daughter.

Carlee Rose Bollig, 17, is scheduled to be sentenced March 4 in Sherburne County District Court. She had been accused of being the driver of a vehicle that ran a red light on U.S. Highway 10 at Sherburne County Road 11 in Becker.

The collision killed Charles Maurer, 54, of Becker, and his 10-year-old daughter Cassy on July 21. Court records accused Bollig of sending and receiving social media messages right before the crash. She also was charged with use of a wireless communications device and driving without a valid license.
