Eight Arraigned On Federal Drug Charges Linked To OSP

Eight people were arraigned on federal drug conspiracy charges following an investigation into an alleged drug ring operating out of Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, Okla.

A criminal complaint filed at the Eastern District of Oklahoma U.S. Courthouse in Muskogee, Okla., alleges an Indian Brotherhood gang member identified as Cody McClendon, 35, of Tahlequah, Okla., who is currently an inmate at OSP, used a contraband cellular phone he kept hidden on his person and inside his prison cell at the maximum-security prison to facilitate the sale and distribution of methamphetamine.

“McClendon was doing this by using the cellular phone to communicate with co-conspirators via audio phone calls, text messages and by communicating on the social media website Facebook,” according to the Eastern District of Oklahoma U.S. Attorney’s Office.
