Fred C. Porter Jr.

(October 13, 1962 - January 23, 2016)

Fred Porter, Jr., age 53, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Fred Clarke was born October 13, 1962, in Sitka, AK, the son of Fred Sr. and Evelyn "Adeline" (Gamble) Porter. As a young child, the family moved to Bemidji, MN, and then New Town, ND. Following high school Fred lived in Nome, AK, where he worked on a commercial fishing boat. In 1987, he moved back to the White Earth Reservation. Fred has lived East of Mahnomen with Sharon Townsend since 1990. The couple was recently united in marriage on July 26, 2014. Fred was currently employed at the Shooting Star Casino as the Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage.

Family was an important element in Fred's life. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved raising his grandchildren. He often took two or three of them at a time for a Sunday drive. Fred's second love was SPORTS! It didn't matter if it was baseball, basketball, boxing or football, he loved them all. He was a very enthusiastic Minnesota Vikings fan and displayed his affection whenever and however he could. Fred and Sharon spent many years with good friends at Moondance Jam making life long memories. He also enjoyed Bar Bingo and had a love for popcorn and KFC.

Fred leaves behind his wife, Sharon; children: Josh Moquino, Marc Porter, FredC. Porter, Tabitha Porter, Travis Clark, Trevor Clark, Ron (Crystal) Blue Jr., Tiffany Blue and Dustin Blue; two sisters, Tracy Porter (Russell Murray) and Patricia Jo Porter (Mike Keezer); 14 grandchildren and all of Sharon's Family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond; sister, Deanna; granddaughter, Dalayna Littlewolf and nephew, Tyler Townsend.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00am at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Naytahwaush. Interment will be held at Pine Bend Cemetery, rural Lengby, MN.
