Oglala Sioux Tribe ponders pot possibilities

A committee of the Oglala Sioux tribal council wants to gauge the will of the people and is proposing that the council hold a reservation-wide advisory vote.

The tribal law and order committee's recommendation is on the council's Feb. 1 agenda.

If the council agrees, a referendum would be called within 90 days of the council vote.

Ellen Fills Pipe, chair of the law and order committee, says she likes the idea of hearing from the people but is skeptical of the business prospects of legalizing pot.
