Coal cocked: Crow Tribe furloughs might last 5 months

Clobbered by coal mining cuts, the Crow Tribe has notified furloughed employees they might not be able to return to work for five months.

In letters issued Jan. 14, workers were told to be prepared for furloughs through May 16, though workers may be recalled earlier based on need and better than expected revenue.

Earlier this month, the Crow Tribe indicated it would furlough a quarter of its workers because of revenue shortfalls resulting from a tanking coal economy.
