Members of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) have elected the tribe's Business Council, reinstating incumbent Charlie Vig as chairman and incumbent Keith B. Anderson as vice chairman, and electing newcomer Freedom Brewer as secretary/treasurer.
The election was on Tuesday (Jan. 19) for the three-person council, which is responsible for the operations of the tribal government.
Vig became chairman in August 2012 after the passing of then-Chairman Stanley Crooks. Vig also served for 14 years on the SMSC Gaming Enterprise Board of Directors, which oversees Mystic Lake Casino Hotel and Little Six Casino. In his earlier career, Vig worked his way up from project manager to vice president of facilities at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.
