Vizenor resigns as White Earth chair
WHITE EARTH -- Erma Vizenor resigned Wednesday as chairwoman of the White Earth Band of Chippewa.
The White Earth Tribal Council, by a vote of 3-0, accepted her resignation Wednesday, a release from the council said.
Vizenor was censured Dec. 22 by the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Tribal Executive Committee.
Vizenor was appointed Secretary-Treasurer in 1996 and then elected to the position in 1997 and served until 2002. She was elected chairwoman in 2004.
The White Earth Tribal Council special hearing scheduled for Friday has been canceled.
