Red Lake Warriors fall to Panthers 88-79 in double-header in Cass Lake

Lady Warriors dominate Lady Panthers 77-28

The Cass Lake-Bena Panthers and Red Lake Warriors met for the third time this season and for the first time the Panthers came out on top.

In front of a packed gym in Cass Lake, the Panthers held off a late charge by the Warriors to win 88-79. With Red Lake holding a 33-32 lead late in the first half, Cass Lake-Bena went on a 22-4 run and took the lead for good.

The Panthers would lead by as many as 18, but Red Lake closed the gap to four at 76-72.

That's as close as Red Lake would get as they drop to 10-2 overall.

All five starters were in double figures for Cass Lake-Bena as they improved to 8-3 overall. Cass Lake-Bena hit ten three pointers with five of those coming from freshman Jared Brown.

Kendall Whitefeather led the Warriors with 20 points as he connected on 3 three pointers.

Red Lake will return to action on Monday, January 11th when they travel to Mahnomen as part of a Boys and Girls doubleheader (96.7 FM).

Cass Lake-Bena returns to the court on Tuesday, January 12 when they travel to Deer River.
