New TXT4Life Regional Coordinator Hired for Minnesota's North Central Region

Bemidji, Minn .; Jan 8th, 2016:Stellher Human Services, Inc. recently hired Stephanie Downey as the TXT4Life Coordinator for theNorth Central Region. As the Regional Coordinator, Stephanie will focus outreach efforts on suicide prevention strategies, mental health education and awareness, as well as helping communities in the region understand how to access mental health and crisis resources. Stephanie also works for Evergreen Youth & Family Services Inc. as the Beltrami Area Suicide Prevention Coordinator. She has a long history of providing suicide prevention education and outreach in the area.

The TXT4Life program uses texting as a way for those in crisis or contemplating suicide to anonymously reach out and ask for free and confidential help. When individuals text the word "LIFE" to 61222, they are connected with a trained counselor who can help them by listening, providing tools and resources, and helping them get to a safe place, both emotionally and physically.
