FBI investigator says a Santee, NE man died of a gunshot wound following a standoff with authorities

NIOBRARA, NE (KTIV) - A 25-year-old Santee, Nebraska man has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a standoff with federal authorities on the Santee Sioux Indian Reservation Wednesday evening.

FBI investigators have confirmed to KTIV's US92 Norfolk News Bureau that David Hoffman was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Yankton, South Dakota Hospital Wednesday evening.

Authorities said Hoffman, who was sought after assaulting and disarming a police officer, shot himself as officers tried to arrest him on the Santee Sioux Indian Reservation.
