BISMARCK—Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Mark Fox says there's no deal for now on a revised oil tax agreement with the state because a new lower tax rate violates the terms.
The compact dates to 2007 and provides a one-stop tax for oil companies drilling on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. The companies pay oil taxes to the state, which in turn distributes half to the tribes.
