Elizabeth "Betty" White, 77, formerly of Ponemah, MN, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Moorhead.

Betty was born on January 21, 1938 in Manitoba, Canada to Collins and Mary Chokin. As an adult, she moved to Minnesota and in June of 1960, married Jack White and they made Ponemah, MN their home.

Betty is fondly remembered as a caring and loving person with a spitfire personality who took care of everyone. She was a traditional native woman who skinned deer; cooked ducks and rabbits; caught and fried fish; made "good" bread and fry bread. She loved to play bingo and she especially loved her family.

She is survived by her children, Linda, Agnes (Eric) White; Jack (Kathy) White, Jr., Sheryl White, Luke (Ada) White, Johnny White, Bonnie White; brother, Norbert; sisters, Florence, Jean, Rose, and Nora; 27 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents; her husband, Jack; 1 grandchild Saidee White; 1 great-grandchild Cyrus White; and siblings, Tony, Archey, Vivian, Mary, and Collins.

A wake will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Ponemah Boy's and Girl's Club and continue until the time of service on Saturday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Spiritual Leader, Steve Jackson will officiate at the funeral service, also at the Ponemah Boy's and Girl's Club, with drums by Albert White, Jr. Pallbearers will be Louis White, Jack White, Jr., Vincent White, Richard Golden, Jr., Marcus White, Luke White, Jr., and alternates, Nick Spears and Reggie White. Honorary Pallbearers will be Vicky (Doug) Jordain and Jennifer White. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah. Arrangements are being handled by Dennis Funeral Home of Walker. (
