Tribal workers all did receive 'longetivy' bonus

PEMBROKE — A day after saying that there was no across-the-board pay increase or bonus for employees of the Lumbee tribe, a spokeman for the tribal government says that all employees did receive a “longevity bonus” — but for much less than the 10 percent that was making its rounds on social media.

Gary Strickland said that all 120 tribal employees, including those employed just part-time, received a one-time longevity bonus of between 1.5 percent and 3 percent of their salary based on the amount of time they worked for the tribe. He continued to deny the accuracy of a document circulating on Facebook contending that tribal employees recently received a 10 percent raise.
