Lower Sioux Tribal Council named Gazette People of the Year

Governments at any level are set up to serve the people, and those elected to represent the public on one of those units are called on to make decisions that have the best interest of their constituents in mind.

For generations, the Lower Sioux Tribal Council has served the people of the Native American community in Redwood County, and over the past year the leaders of that council have committed their efforts to make their community better through investments with long-term ramifications not only economically but in terms of education, health and even shelter.

Currently, the five-member council includes Robert Larsen, chairman, Brian Pendleton, vice-chairman, Gary Prescott, secretary, Earl Pendleton, treasurer and Justice Wabasha, assistant secretary/treasurer.
