Japan, South Korea settle wartime sex slave row, issue joint statement by foreign ministers

TOKYO — Japan and South Korea have reached an agreement to resolve their decades-long dispute over Korean victims of Japan's World War II-era military prostitution system, with an apology by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a pledge to set up a 1 billion yen ($8 million) fund for the victims, euphemistically called "comfort women."
