COURTS: Judge maintains bail in Downwind case

BEMIDJI—A judge Monday maintained bail of $500,000 for a Bemidji man charged with aiding an offender in the Rose Downwind murder case.

Brandon Joseph Rossbach, 31, Bemidji, is charged with helping Marchello Anthony Cimmarusti, 40, dispose Downwind's body on Oct. 20-21. At his initial court appearance Dec. 11, Rossbach's bail was set at $500,000 with conditions, such as no contact with Cimmarusti, no leaving the state, the surrender of his passport and no carrying of firearms. Bail was also set at $750,000 with no conditions.

At Monday's hearing, with Ninth District Judge Paul Benshoof presiding, Rossbach's attorney, Blair Nelson, said Rossbach has a history of making his previous court appearances and recommended Rossbach use an ankle bracelet if he were to be released.
