Nolan helps Indian schools in new education act

A pole building is a perfectly fine building to operate a business out of, says 8th District Congressman Rick Nolan.

As a matter of fact, the sawmill and pallet company founded by Nolan in Emily, Minnesota, and now operated by his daughter and son-in-law, operates out of a pole building.

But a pole building isn’t always an appropriate setting for a school, especially the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation in Bena. It’s a school that has gained national attention because of reports a failing school building.

“I ran a saw mill in a pole building. I don’t want children to go to school in one,” Nolan told the Times Monday, Dec. 14, from his office in Washington, D.C.
