20 Year Old Canadian Wins 43" Smart HDTV at BSU Men's Hockey Game

Second Hockey Hot Shots Winner of the Year

(Bemidji, MN) (December 15, 2015) – For the second time in a month there was a winner of the Paul Bunyan Communications Hockey Hot Shots Promotion held during BSU Men's Hockey games at the Sanford Center this past weekend.

Robert Briem made his shot from center ice at the game Saturday, December 12 during the BSU/Bowling Green second period intermission to win a 43" Smart HDTV. He is the ninth winner in the contest's five year history and the second this season. Video of the shot is available on the Paul Bunyan Communications YouTube page at: https://youtu.be/entrMZcXKaM

Briem is a 20 year old Canadian who was in town with the Steinbach Pistons junior hockey team. The Pistons were invited to Bemidji to watch the Beavers, tour the Sanford Center, and interact with the BSU coaches during their visit. There are local connections with the current BSU roster as junior forward Brendan Harms is from Steinbach and freshman defenseman Justin Baudry was a member of the Pistons.

"It's funny, we went almost two years without getting a winner and now there have been two within a month of each other. It's not an easy shot to make. Sure Robert is a hockey player but there have been plenty of hockey players who have missed the shot. In fact, one of Robert's teammates was also drawn to play and missed by quite a bit just before he made his shot." said Brian Bissonette, Paul Bunyan Communications Marketing Supervisor.

The Paul Bunyan Communications Hockey Hot Shots contest is held during an intermission of each of the Saturday BSU Men's home hockey games during the season. The contest is free to enter and three names are drawn each night the contest is held to take a shot from center ice. All contestants receive a coupon for a free PBTV On Demand movie rental, any contestant hitting the board receives a Paul Bunyan Communications portable charger, and a contestant who puts the puck in the net through the middle of the Hockey Hot Shots board wins a 43" Smart HDTV.

The next Hockey Hot Shots contest will be held during an intermission of the BSU Men's Hockey game versus Arizona State on January 16, 2016.
