Lady Warriors advance in NCTC Tournament with 61-44 win over BGMR

THIEF RIVER FALLS - The Red Lake Lady Warriors upped their record to 6-0 on the season by winning their first game of the NCTC Tournament against Badger-Greenbush-Middle River on Monday, December 14, 2015.

That win advances them to a match-up with Sacred Heart, who defeated Red Lake County Center 66-30 earlier. Game time is 6:30 at NCTC.

The BGMR Gators played a close game in the first half, as leads were exchanged by both team in the low scoring affair. At the half it was all knotted up at 27-27.

After being tied again at 32-32 at about the 15:00 mark in the second half, Red Lake went on a 16-point run where they led 48-32 before BGMR scored again.

That was pretty much "all she wrote" for BGMR and the Lady Warriors cruised to the 61-44 victory.

Grace White led all scorers with 25 points, Alexis Desjarlait added 12, Autumn and Averi Holthusen each netted 9, Samantha Roy put in 5 and Angel McClain had 1.

White also had 11 rebounds, two 3-pointers and was 7 of 7 from the FT line. She was KKCQ's Star of the Game...

Carly Mekash led BGMR with 18 and Megan Larson had 9.

Lady Warriors take on Sacred Heart at 6:30 PM this evening at the NCTC Tournament in Thief River Falls. Winner goes on to play in the Championship on Thursday. Last year the Lady Warriors came from behind to win this tournament over Stephen-Argyle in a low scoring affair, 34-28...Grace White was named Tournament MVP. She scored 48 total points and had 36 rebounds. Holthusen scored 44 points in the tournament, and Samantha Roy had 28.

It was the Red Lake Lady Warriors first time playing in this tournament. Badger-Greenbush-Middle River finished in 3rd Place, Sacred Heart in 5th Place and Clearbrook-Gonvick in 7th Place.
