Rez Rap Records to host rap icon Twista in Red Lake

RED LAKE -- Northland hip-hop artists have emerged from the underground scene putting Red Lake on rapper radar. Legendary rapid-flow rapper Twista joins local acts Saturday to headline the biggest hip-hop show to hit the Red Lake Nation, organizers said.

The stage will be set at the Red Lake Humanities Center where 1,000 hip-hop fans will witness history in the making. Red Lake artist Thomas X is hosting “Twista in Red Lake” presented by Red Lake’s Rez Rap Records and Long D.O.E. Entertainment based in the Twin Cities.

“We asked if (Twista) was willing to come to the reservation and he was definitely down for it,” said Thomas Barrett Jr. (Thomas X). “A lot of people with Rez Rap Records and Long D.O.E. are fans of his and his hip-hop style.”
