Harriet Marie Martin, 51, began her spiritual journey on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 from Sanford Hospital in Bemidji with her family by her side. Harriet was born in Cass Lake, Minnesota on September 24, 1964, the daughter of Harry Johnson and Lillian (Bellanger) Webster.

Harriet was a feisty, warm hearted, very outspoken and determined woman in so many ways. She did, however; have a soft spot for her grandchildren, whom she had enormous love and admiration for. She thoroughly enjoyed riding the rides at amusement parks with her grandbabies when she could. Harriet enjoyed dancing at powwows with her granddaughter and aunts. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and always had a batch of fry bread ready. Harriet also liked garage saleing and going to the casino. Harriet’s favorite times of the year were Halloween and Christmas. She had a wonderful soul that will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

Family that she meets again are her parents; Harry Johnson and Lillian (Bellanger) Webster, daughter; Charlene, sister; Debra, brother; Alvin, uncle; Norman, aunt; Leona and nephews; Jason and Elliot.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memories are her husband; John Martin of Cass Lake, son; Walter ‘Wally’ Smith, Jr. of Onigum, daughter; Karen (Brian) Anoka of Cass Lake, brother; Darrell Johnson of Onigum, sister; Rose (Pat) Howard of Onigum, grandbabies; James, Ronnie and Camryn, aunts; Geneva, Marlyce and Florine, 8 nieces and nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

An overnight wake for Harriet will begin at 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 11th at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum and continue until her 1:00 p.m. funeral on Saturday, December 12th at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Onigum. Pastor Mark R. Olson will officiate. Those helping to lay Harriet to rest are Jeremy Ince, Norman Lawrence, Walter ‘Wally’ Smith Jr., Brian Anoka, Darrell Johnson Jr. and Bill Tuttle. The alternate pallbearer is James Elmberg. Her honorary pallbearers are her aunts; Geneva, Marlyce and Florine, her nieces; Anita, Joyce, Cassandra, Debbie and Amber and her granddaughter; Camryn. Interment will be in Old Agency Catholic Cemetery at Old Agency following her Saturday service.

Harriet’s care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker. Online condolences for the family may be left at http://www.northernpeace.com
