Robert Dean Fairbanks, Sr., age 57, of Cass Lake, began his spiritual journey on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji. He was born on August 30, 1958 in Cass Lake, the son of Benjamin Fairbanks, Sr., and Carole (Michaelson) Benjamin.

Robert loved spending time with his friends, and being in the outdoors. He was very talented when it came to his crafts with birch bark. Robert made many nice pieces of work. He was a very kind hearted man who would give all that he had to everyone. Robert enjoyed going for walks and over his lifetime he walked many miles.

The family that Robert joins again are his father and mother; Benjamin and Carole, and one brother David Fairbanks.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his son; Robert Fairbanks, Jr. of Grand Rapids, step father; Clifford Benjamin of Laporte, brothers; Clifford "Tim" Benjamin of Laporte, Richard (Terri) Benjamin of Cass Lake, Scott Fairbanks of Ball Club, sisters; Elizabeth (David) LeDoux of Brainerd, Dawn Benjamin of Cass Lake, Tracey Benjamin of Cass Lake, Marlene "Molly" Fairbanks of Grand Rapids, and Shirley Fairbanks of Grand Rapids.

A wake for Robert will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015 starting at 4:00 p.m. and continuing until the 11:00 service on Wednesday, December 9, all held at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Rev. Mark R. Olson will officiate. Pallbearers for Robert will be Mike Robinson, Leslie Hough, Robert Fisher, Glen "Tuffy" Fisher, Richard Benjamin, and Alex Benjamin Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert's care has been entrusted to the Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN. Online condolences for the family may be given at
