The Red Lake High School boys' basketball team is ranked No. 20 in Class 1A in the Minnesota Basketball News pre-season rankings: Minneapolis North No. 1, Central Minnesota Christian No. 2, Battle Lake No. 3, Spring Grove No. 4, Minnesota Transitions No. 5, Rushford-Peterson No. 6, Browerville No. 7, Heritage Christian No. 8, Springfield No. 9, and Cass Lake-Bena No. 10.

Apple Valley is No. 1 in 4A, DeLaSalle is No. 1 in 3A, and Melrose is No. 1 in 2A.
