BEMIDJI -- The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners met for a special budget meeting Tuesday which included a Truth in Taxation hearing and multiple financial topics, including next year's property tax levy.
The property taxes payable in 2016 was set at $20,137,494 by the Board, which is $1,310,245 or 6.96 percent higher than what was levied in 2015. The levy was approved in a 3-2 vote with Commissioners Keith Winger, Joe Vene and Richard Anderson in favor and Tim Sumner and Jim Lucachick voting against.
