Kelliher up to the challenge: School the first in the country to earn gold rating in USDA challenge

KELLIHER -- Corncobs do-si-doed with strawberries, but the hunks of chocolate lumbering across the floor got most of the laughs.

Students at Kelliher School dressed as food Thursday in a weeklong celebration of healthy living: mandarin oranges in plain orange T-shirts, a tree of broccoli in a puffy green hat, a chocolate cake and a chocolate muffin in bloated sumo suits. They wiggled like jello and froze like ice during dance numbers as their guests for the day watched from the bleachers in their suits and ties.

Tim Lutz, the superintendent here, wore a tie checkered with fruits and vegetables. He leaned in toward the microphone.
