Veteran housing owners could get cash
ST. PAUL -- A Minnesota landlord who rents to a homeless veteran could get $1,000.
The state Veterans' Affairs Department and community leaders across Minnesota committed earlier this year to end veteran homelessness before 2016. The $1,000 incentive is part of the effort.
The money is available to landlords who rent to veterans listed on the Minnesota Homeless Veterans Registry. The veterans' department says that since early this year 200 veterans on the list have found homes, but 148 still are looking.
