Jerome Wayne "Joebay" Strong, Sr., age 68, of Redby, entered the Spirit World on November 9, 2015 at his home in Redby. Jerome was born December 29, 1948 in Red Lake, the son of Burton and Mary (Hart) Strong.

He attended school in Red Lake. Following graduation, Jerome enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably aboard the USS Meeker County LST-980. He was deployed to Viet Nam in 1968. Following the service, Jerome was employed at the Red Lake Mill for 24 years until becoming Security Supervisor at the Red Lake Hospital. He retired in 2012.

Jerome was a good, humble man who always made sure to keep close ties with his many friends and family. He was an avid Twins and Red Lake Warrior basketball fan. Jerome loved entertaining and having friends and family over for socializing and good times. He was always there for his loved ones during times of need. He was a proud veteran and member of the Red Lake Honor Guard.

Those family members he joins again are his parents; Burton and Mary, two brothers; Marvin "Shinob" Strong, Sr., and Gerald "Dumbo" Strong, three sisters; Cecelia "Sister" Strong, Margaret "Muggs" Needham, and Helen "Geepy" Jones, one son; Michael Rogers and one daughter; Christina "Tina" Strong, three adopted sons, Virgil Jones, William Jones, and Kevin Jones, Sr., his companion in life, Margaret "Mugs" Dow, one grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his children; Mary Strong, Darwin (Kelly) Strong, Jerome (Kim) Strong, Jr., Eric Strong, Bradley Hardy, Yolanda (Jose) Reyes and adopted children Valencia Jones and Dion Jones, two brothers; Lester Strong and Herman Strong, one sister Kathleen Strong other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Jerome will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Redby Community Center and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Saturday, November 14, held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers for Jerome will be; Greg Strong, Jeremy Strong, Sr., Ron Brun, Darren Strong, Sr., Darwin Strong, Jr., Kevin Jones, Jr., Shawn D. Strong, Mynor Aguilar and Jerome W. Strong III. Alternates will be Harlan Strong and Anthony Strong. Honorary pallbearers will be; Cheryl Strong, Roxanne Strong, Joyce Strong, Lisa Brun, Miranda Strong, Rochelle Strong, Michelle Strong, Clarissa Strong, Tara Dow, Marlou Nelson, Charlotte Tarnow, Kim Kingbird and all his former co-workers. Military Honors will be accorded by the Red Lake Honor Guard. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake following the service.
