RED LAKE NATION TRANSIT

SUMMARY:

The Director has primary responsibility for the day-to-day management and supervision of staff and operations of the Red Lake Transit. Reports to Executive Administrator, full-time position, with benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Prepare grant applications to ensure ongoing financial support for the program.

• Negotiate contracts with funding sources for all Federal, State, and County funds.

• Negotiate with vendors on bids for vehicles, equipment repairs, maintenance and warranties.

• Apply for all refunds and fuel tax reimbursements.

• Maintain proper records for budgeting, statistical computation, audits, and reports.

• Monitor program revenues and expenditures monthly to ensure fiscal integrity of the program.

• Submit reports to funding sources; Tribal Council, Planning Department, etc. in a timely manner.

• Research and provide opportunities for program budget increases to expand services.

• Maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, and requirements for the program.

• Prepare and distribute publicity and information to the news media, employees, and general public.

• Evaluate and coordinate monthly bus schedules, special trips, maintenance, and repairs.

• Coordinate with other transit providers.

• Prepare brochures and other promotional items.

• Handle inquiries, complaints, and answer questions concerning the program,

• Prepare and coordinate mileage and rate schedules.

• Supervise drivers and dispatchers on a daily basis.

• Schedule and provide training for drivers and dispatchers as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or G.E.D required.

• AA Degree with three years appropriate experience in Transportation Management.

• Administrative experience in program planning, budget control, and personnel management.

• Skills using computer software other then or beyond basic word processing.

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check.
