Is it Saturday yet? 500,000 expected to hunt on opening weekend

BEMIDJI -- There are about 500,000 deer hunters in Minnesota and many will be out this weekend for the season opener, affecting communities both off and online.

"For many people, it's a time of family reunion. It's a time to get together and enjoy the outdoors," DNR Regional Wildlife Manager John Williams said. "It doesn't matter if it's here, Thief River Falls or Roseau, many kids also use the opportunity to come home to the place where they grew up and touch base with home."
