BELTRAMI-BEMIDJI TRIAD MEETING

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and the Bemidji Police Department are pleased to announce the development of the Beltrami-Bemidji TRIAD program and will be hosting a public meeting on November 12th, 2015 at 12:30PM at the Bemidji Senior Center at 216 3rd St. NW downtown Bemidji. Beltrami-Bemidji TRIAD meetings will be held the second Thursday of the month at the Bemidji Senior Center.

The Beltrami-Bemidji TRIAD joins several other counties and cities in Minnesota and across the country who work to improve community relations with the senior population in their communities through a program called TRIAD. TRIAD is not an acronym, but symbolizes the partnership between law enforcement, public safety and seniors working together to be better informed and reduce vulnerability to scams, criminal activity and other public safety concerns.

TRIAD’s goal is to promote relationships with seniors as older Americans represent the most rapidly growing segment of the population; one in every eight Americans is age 65 or older. Seniors are less likely to be connected through social media and immediate electronic technologies, therefore decreasing their awareness of crime trends and personal safety. TRIAD also gives seniors an opportunity to interact with law enforcement and public safety to allow their concerns to be heard and addressed.

Anyone is welcome to attend the Beltrami-Bemidji TRIAD meeting. Lunch is available at the Bemidji Senior Center at 12:00PM, provided by Lutheran Social Services Senior Nutrition (LSS). A suggested donation of $4.00 for those 60 years and older and a charge of $7.25 for those under 60 years is requested if you are joining for lunch. If you plan to join LSS for lunch, please call ahead at 218-444-3987, their office hours are 8:30AM-1:00PM.

The November Beltrami-Bemidji TRIAD meeting will include topics related to Minnesota’s Winter Hazard Awareness Week as well as an update on scams and recent law enforcement activity in the area. The Beltrami-Bemidji TRIAD was developed at the request of seniors in Beltrami County. We thank them for their interest and assistance as we prepared our TRIAD program.
