Syracuse, N.Y. -- As the Seneca Indian Nation in western New York and some other tribes across the country consider growing and selling marijuana on their lands, the Onondaga Nation wants nothing to do with pot.
Marijuana violates the Onondaga teaching against intoxication, said Joe Heath, a lawyer for the Onondaga Nation.
"The Onondagas are very concerned about their youth and the contact they have with the outside world," Heath said. "They haven't given the slightest thought to growing marijuana."
