Tribe 'bombarded' with requests for absentee ballots

PEMBROKE — If requests for absentee ballots can help predict election turnout, voter participation in the Nov. 17 Lumbee tribal elections will be better than “average,” according to the tribe’s Elections Board chairman.

“We’re being bombarded with requests for absentee ballots,” Sheila Beck-Jones told The Robesonian on Tuesday.

This year’s elections include tribal chairman and seven seats on the 21-member Lumbee Tribal Council.
