SISSETON, S.D. -- A Dec. 15 trial has been scheduled two current and three former executives and one employee of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe for issuing checks to themselves to pay for home repairs and helping to pay their income taxes.
Acting U.S. Attorney for South Dakota Randy Seiler has announced the six, who are all members of the tribe’s Big Coulee District, face charges of conspiracy to commit embezzlement from an Indian tribal organization and embezzlement from the tribe.
