U.S. Attorney on Spirit Lake Reservation Killing: Shooting was Justified

U.S. Attorney Chris Myers says a federal officer was justified in shooting and killing a man on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

BIA Officer Terry Morgan shot and killed 31-year-old Joseph Charboneau during a standoff with officers on June 16.

The FBI has said it all began when officers tried to arrest another person, and an altercation ensued with Charboneau.
