BEMIDJI -- On Friday, several Bemidji-area businesses received calls from persons looking to gain sensitive financial information or money, according to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office.
The businesses receiving the calls were told their electric service would be disconnected if payment was not received within a certain time frame, the release said. The calls were placed to businesses who are customers of Beltrami County Electric Cooperative and Ottertail Power Co. in Beltrami and Hubbard counties, the sheriff’s office said.
