Cherokee woman gets prison in robbery case tied to slaying

ASHEVILLE — A Cherokee woman will spend time in prison for her involvement in a robbery on the Indian reservation.

Ashlyn Nichole Carothers, 23, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger to 180 months in prison and also ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay $30,166.45 as restitution, according to a news release from the office of Jill Westmoreland Rose, U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
