Workforce Fairness Coalition Announces Minneapolis PROUD Initiative

Local business leaders and employees to speak out against Working Families Agenda at Friday City Hall Event

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (October 15, 2015) – In response to the City of Minneapolis’ proposed “Working Families Agenda,” the Workforce Fairness Coalition announced today the launch of its the Minneapolis PROUD initiative. Local business leaders and employees from the Coalition will articulate their position on the initiative, starting with a public forum at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Minneapolis City Hall, Room No 132.

Minneapolis PROUD’s mission is to raise up the innovative and responsive workplace environment that exists in Minneapolis. Yesterday Mayor Betsy Hodges announced changes to the proposed Working Families Agenda but the coalition says there's still more work to be done.

“There are still significant questions about what is being proposed that we all need to review and understand,” said Todd Klingel, president of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Employers across Minneapolis share the same goal of making sure families and workers are supported and engaged in the energy of this community.

“The best way for Minneapolis to make an impact on this issue is to create a truly inclusive and transparent process that can help us all work together, a way that is above any one group’s specific agenda or political objective.”

Stakeholders from the Coalition will present Minneapolis PROUD’s message at Friday’s gathering. City Council President Barbara Johnson plans to attend.
