Albuquerque recognizes Indigenous Peoples Day

Monday marks the first "Indigenous Peoples Day" in Albuquerque.

It's a time to celebrate native culture and to recognize that Native Americans were here before Christopher Columbus arrived.

Native Americans in New Mexico have been pushing for an officially recognized Indigenous Peoples Day for years. Last week, the Albuquerque City Council approved it.
