Solace in the sticks: Woodworking helps breast cancer survivor cope with illness

RED LAKE—Rachel Schoelkoph has always had a love for animals and nature. It is because of that devotion she is able to love—and live today.

Schoelkoph grew up in the woodsy Little Rock district of Red Lake, where she resides with her husband Richard. The couple moved to Schoelkoph's hometown in 2012, after they were married and settled into a mobile home.

"There was a cat stuck under the trailer," Schoelkoph said. "It was just pitiful, so I saved it."
