Possible Grant Money Shortfalls Concern Reservation Schools

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The website is down; the employees let go and reservation schools across South Dakota are wondering after the GEAR UP program was dismantled.

The state is waiting for word from the federal government on the future of the Native American education program. While GEAR UP federal grant money came to the state and flowed through Mid Central Education Cooperative, many schools hired outside contractors to run it in their buildings.
