Cass Lake man pleads guilty to kidnapping, fleeing

BEMIDJI—A Cass Lake man who fled law enforcement with a half-naked woman in his vehicle has plead guilty to kidnapping and other charges in Beltrami County District Court.

Beltrami County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call Aug. 19 just after midnight on the 600 block of Nordic Avenue Northwest where the homeowner informed them a man, later identified as Sam Joseph Goggleye, 39, of Cass Lake, dragged a woman from the house against her will and forced her into a vehicle. According to court documents, a Bemidji Police officer observed the suspect vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Lumina, traveling on U.S. Highway 71 near Paul Bunyan Drive where the officer conducted a traffic stop.
