Laura Jean 'Lolly' (Thompson) Goodwin, 54, of Minneapolis went home to be with her Creator on Saturday, September 26, 2015. She was born on March 14, 1961 in Cass Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles and Sylvia (Paquette) Thompson, Sr.

Throughout her life Lolly worked various jobs a few of which were as a cook for a school and a social work aide, which she was very proud of. She was always helping others whenever she could. Everyone knew that her house was always open to anyone who needed it, whether it be to get a meal, a shower or just get her advice. Lolly loved doing her arts and crafts projects, flower gardening, cooking, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and other country music. She really enjoyed playing bingo with her family and friends. Lolly lived for and to be with her grandchildren. So much so, that after she retired she cared for five of her grandchildren daily. Lolly will be forever remembered for the smile she always had on her face.

Lolly was preceded in death by her parents; Charles Sr. and Sylvia, husband; Jeff Goodwin, sisters; Marilyn, Eliza, Debra and Cheryl, brother; Noel Sr. and son-in-law; Dimitri.

Those left here to cherish her memory are her sons; Donald Goodwin, Jr. and Jovan Motschenbacher both of Minneapolis; daughters; Rose Thompson, Sara Goodwin, Salina (Martin LaFaye) Goodwin and Lucinda (Jomoy Lee) Goodwin all of Minneapolis, companion of 23 years Eric Jackson, brothers; Charles 'Chaz' Thompson, Jr. of Duluth and Peter 'PJ' Thompson of Cass Lake, sister; Susan Oquist of Minneapolis, special nieces; Tasheena and Cassandra Thompson both of Minneapolis, 32 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

An overnight wake for Lolly will begin at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 4th and continue until her 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, October 6th all being held at The Church of Gitchitwaa Kateri in Minneapolis. Helping to lay Lolly to rest are Gomer Thompson, Gerald 'Sunny' Christenson, Demetrius Johnson, David Thompson, Martin LaFaye, Collin Goodwin, Sr., Jomoy Lee and Dominique Bowmen Griffin. Lolly's honorary pallbearers are Crystal Oquist, Christine Thompson, Susan Thompson, Sylvia Thompson, Angela Thompson and Roberta Doxtator.
