Investigator: Remains are from American Indian

Officials will monitor a site along Lewisville Lake after human remains recently were found.

Remains that were discovered along the shore of Lewisville Lake have been determined to be from an ancient American Indian, according to Troy Taylor, chief death investigator for Denton County.

On Saturday night, members of the Denton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division were called out to the north end of the Big Sandy boat ramp area near Shady Shores after someone reported finding bones, according to Sandi Brackeen, spokeswoman for the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.
