BAGLEY -- A 43-year-old Bagley man faces a vehicular homicide charge on claims he struck another man with a sport utility vehicle and told his passengers to pretend they didn’t see anything early on Sunday morning.
Elmer William Thompson appeared Tuesday in Clearwater County District Court on the charge and an additional felony count of failing to stop for a collision, injury or death.
Witnesses told investigators Thompson was driving his Chevy Tahoe on a rural road early Sunday at the time it collided with Russell Marvin Auginaush, 35, of Naytahwaush, Minn. Auginaush was thrown into a roadside ditch upon impact and died from his injuries, according to court records and a news release issued by the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.
