Great Northern Radio Show goes 'Back To School' during live broadcast in Bemidji


The Great Northern Radio Show's "Back To School" live show was broadcast live on 90.5 KAXE/KBXE Saturday from the Bangsberg Theater at Bemidji State University. The traveling variety program — produced by Northern Community Radio of Grand Rapids and Bemidji — explores life in small towns through comedy, stories and music.

The Featured performers included country rock outfit American Scarecrows, Bemidji-based bluesman Corey Medina and his band, Red Lake hip-hop artist Thomas X, local folk musician Berit Dybing and others. The Great Northern Radio Players, which include Bemidji’s Sara Breeze, C.J. Anderson and Lauren Nickisch, of Pequot Lakes, and local guest performers Rachel Brandt, Mark Christensen, Diamond Knispel and Robert Saxton jioned Bemidji Mayor Rita Albrecht and BSU professor Tim Goodwin. Comedians Rob Fairbanks of the “Rez Report” and Jon Roberts were also be featured in the show.
