The Chickasaw Nation Princess Pageant set for Monday, Sept. 28, in Ada

ADA, Okla. – Three talented young ladies are set to be crowned Chickasaw Royalty during the Chickasaw Princess Pageant 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28.

Chickasaw Princess, Chickasaw Jr. Princess and Little Miss Chickasaw for 2015-2016 will be selected during the pageant at the Ada High School Cougar Activity Center, 1400 Stadium Dr.

The winning candidates will have the honor of traveling the country as ambassadors of the Chickasaw Nation for many events and functions.

Little Miss Chickasaw candidates are Hailey Alexander and Emery Rutherford both of Ada; Mieiah Pigeon, Stonewall; and Lauren Key of Sulphur.

The Chickasaw Junior Princess candidates are Keilyn "Ke-Ke" Factor, Caitlin Hamilton, Lauren John and Pakanli Ramsey all of Ada.

The Chickasaw Princess candidates are Raechell Meely of Sulphur; Krysten Wallace and Jennifer Walker both of Ada.

Participants in the pageant will be judged on interview questions, traditional Chickasaw dress, poise and a talent performance. Past talents included singing, stomp dancing and storytelling.

Reigning 2014-2015 Chickasaw Nation Princesses are: Chickasaw Jr. Princess Maegan Ann Carney; Little Miss Chickasaw Jazlyn Renee Key and Chickasaw Princess Taylor Nicole Weems.

The outgoing royalty will be honored for their year of service during the ceremony.

The Chickasaw princesses have been making appearances for many years. The heritage of the princesses dates back to 1963 when Ranell (James) Harry was appointed the first Chickasaw Princess.

Everyone is welcome to attend the pageant at no charge and no ticket is required.
