State health department employee on leave after improper water testing discovered

ST. PAUL -- A Minnesota Department of Health lab employee is under investigation after evidence was found of improper lab practices on public and private water testing samples in the Twin Cities area.

Because of improper procedures and calibrations, data may not be correct on tests for five public water systems and several private drinking wells in rural Washington County near the Twin Cities.

The department has labeled the employee’s work as “alleged misconduct.” The employee, who the department has not identified, has been placed on investigatory leave.
