AREA VOLLEYBALL: Drakes and Panthers pick up wins

OAKLEE — The Cass Lake-Bena High School volleyball team opened up its season with a 3-1 win at Red Lake County Central Tuesday.

The Panthers (1-0) started out with a 25-23 loss, but rebounded to take the next three sets 25-21, 25-21 and 25-9.

Tia Dahmen led Cass Lake-Bena with 15 kills while Elizabeth Pemberton drove home 10 and Shelia DeVault directed the offense with 24 assists. Sunshyne Kingbird and Danica Staples each added three services aces.
